Carol

CAROL follows two women from very different backgrounds who find themselves in an unexpected love affair in 1950s New York. As conventional norms of the time challenge their undeniable attraction, an honest story emerges to reveal the resilience of the heart in the face of change. A young woman in her 20s, Therese Belivet, is a clerk working in a Manhattan department store and dreaming of a more fulfilling life when she meets Carol, an alluring woman trapped in a loveless, convenient marriage. As an immediate connection sparks between them, the innocence of their first encounter dims and their connection deepens. While Carol breaks free from the confines of marriage, her husband begins to question her competence as a mother as her involvement with Therese and close relationship with her best friend Abby come to light.

C.R.A.Z.Y.

Born Christmas Day 1960, Zac Beaulieu is the fourth of five sons of Gervais and Laurianne Beaulieu. Zac feels somewhat disconnected to his brothers, all of whom are different from each other. They include the bookworm Christian who is the eldest, the dumb jock Antoine who is third, and the youngest Yvan. But Zac has the most contempt for his second eldest brother, the shiftless druggie Raymond. To his devout Catholic mother, Zac is her miracle son, both for being born the same day as Jesus Christ (a fact which Zac has always hated), and because a Tupperware-selling mystic once told her that he has the power to heal. Laurianne has always coddled Zac, the two who have a special if unspoken bond. But Zac wants more to please his father, who wants more than anything in his sons that they grow up to be man’s men and not sissies. As Zac goes through his mid-teens to early twenties, Zac isn’t sure if he can live up to the ideals of either his mother or especially his father.

The danish girl

Copenhagen, Denmark, 1926. Einar Wegener and his wife Gerda are a happily married couple. Both are artists, Einar preferring landscapes and she portraits. One day Einar poses for a portrait of Gerda while wearing a dress. This is initially done as a lark, as is the later attendance at a party dressed as a woman. However, Einar soon discovers that she is in fact a woman and over time prefers being Lili. At first, she and Gerda try to have her situation “cured” but this leads nowhere (other than too many doctors trying to have Lili locked up as a pervert and/or lunatic). Her voyage of self-discovery will ultimately lead to her undergoing the first ever sex-change operation.

Freeheld

The film is based on the true story of Laurel Hester, a police officer in Ocean County, New Jersey. The story narrates the difficulties faced by a lesbian police detective and her domestic partner, Stacie Andree. Following her diagnosis with terminal lung cancer in 2005, Hester repeatedly appealed to the county’s board of chosen freeholders to have her pension benefits passed on to her domestic partner; she was eventually successful.

I’m trans

I’m trans is a documentary series that plunges us into the world of 5 transgender characters by leaving plenty of room for confidences and emotion.
We will follow our protagonists in various activities of their daily life. It is by immersing them in their environment that we will come to understand their reality. Throughout the episodes, we will focus on the characters and we will eventually forget the difference in favor of their unique personality.
Whether facing the eyes of others in the grocery store, choose women’s shoes when you wear a man’s 11 or renew our driver’s licence while our “official sex” does not match our look, we’ll see our protagonists in particular situations. In addition to the hazards of everyday life, we want to follow the transition process and its hormonal treatments, cosmetic surgeries and legal procedures. Not to mention the point of view of their family, friends and colleagues who have seen the evolution of this important change.
